EXCERPTS

Excerpt 1

Sammy also had a police record, and this running away almost cost him his life. On two occasions while on his little safari, he was approached by someone in the street, and he bit them. The people called the police, and they followed him home, placing a wire loop around his head.

Excerpt 2

My dad was visiting and had the guest room. Each morning he went to shower, Sammy would go into the room and urinate on the pillow. After three mornings and three new pillows, Sammy was banned from upstairs by placing a guard gate at the foot of the stairs.

Excerpt 3

Tiger was given to my brother, Richard, as a sixteenth birthday present. He was the runt of the litter, which my Aunt Briget did not realize until she brought the puppy to the house. He was so weak and puny that although he was six weeks old, he could not walk down any step without falling over. Aunt Briget offered to return him, but my mom said, “No way. I will nurture and care for him.”
